Celebrating 17 years! About us...
James Joyce Irish Pub
1724 E. 8th Avenue
Ybor City FL 33605
The James Joyce Irish Pub & Eatery was opened in 1997. Amazingly enough, without any signage, advertising, and a bar in complete disrepair, the place survived. The fledgling little bar was on life support when it was taken over by the current owner. Within 2 months of taking over, the bar was profitable and the place began to come back to life.
The goal was to keep the original charm of the James Joyce, while creating a fun, enjoyable atmosphere.
Under the helm of the current owner, we've appeared on: Bridezillas 2011 Season premier, Sun UK times, Real fighter magazine, St. Petersburg Times, Creative Loafing, TBT, Irish radio sports talk, The Bubba the love sponge show, Tampa Bay 10 News, Liveleak.com, the Cowhead show, and many many more. In 2008 we won an award from the Guinness Corporation for "One of the best pints in America", and in 2011 we were voted in a Tampa Bay Times (TBT) readers poll for being one of the "Top 30 bars in all of Tampa Bay". (We would go on to win the award again in 2012 and 2013!).
With this growth came the need for a newer, nicer, and larger location.
Our new location (formerly the Mema's Alaskan Taco's building) is at 1724 E. 8th Avenue in Ybor City, right on the trolley line. Our newly built pub features antique stained dark wood, real hard wood flooring, cozy fireplaces, A bookshelf to donate your used books and read other's offerings at your leisure. The new bar has an authentic old world Irish feel to it; We also now have 50 beers on tap, with a focus on premium craft beers from local brewers and famous breweries from around the United States and the World. We also feature a specialty Irish Whiskey menu with an impressive array of Irish Whiskey selections.
We have a full kitchen with authentic Irish dishes, and a late night menu. Customers can enjoy their favorite beverage on our patio, and get in some quality people watching as the trolley rolls on by like clockwork.
Look for more events, an increased interest in live music, and a focus on our chef designed menu items. We think you'll agree that we've taken a well worn and proven concept and brought it to the next level.
Thank you all for your support! We love each and every one of you who has supported the James Joyce throughout the years and made it the success that it is.
